Shadowhunters | Clace Casting

I love the TMI fandom so was obviously ecstatic the moment I heard it was being turned into a TV series! However after having seen the City of Bones movie I wasnt sure if they'd be able to cast anyone who could live up to Lily Collin's and Jamie Campbell Bower's portrayal of the infamous Clace.

That being said I am unbelievably pleased with the actors they've chosen!

Firstly Katherine Mcnamara as Clary Fray. I am yet to see anything that shes acted in but I new of her as she will be starring as Sonya in the Scorch Trials (another fandom I love). After having seen pictures of her with red hair I honestly think she looks exactly as Clary does in my mind when reading the books, I can really see her playing Clary and I think she is absolutely stunning.

Secondly we have Dominic Sherwood as Jace 'whatever surname you're at in the books'. The only thing I have seen Dom in is Vampire Academy, which unlike many people I actually really enjoyed, I thought he was great in it and of course it doesn't hurt that he too is seriously good looking. Can I also add that his heterochromia just makes him even cuter! Again seeing him with his blonde hair really paints the image of Jace. I was apprehensive at first simply because compared to Jamie, Dom seemed very much our typical 'pretty boy' but after the hair and seeing all the edits of him with Kat, I think they look like Clace plain and simple.

Overall I am so happy with the Clace casting. I have seen the rest of the casting and I am fairly happy with that too, other than Simon but thats partly because of how wonderful Robert Sheehan is!
I think that the cast for the TV show actually looks alot more like the books describe them.

I cant wait for 2016, i'm so excited about this new show already! I don't know how I am going to cope for several months. Let me know what your opinions are of the cast and what you're most looking forward too in the show.

After The Dark/ The Philosophers | Movie Review

I just watched this movie the other week and I absolutely loved it! I don't believe there was ever much hype around this film and it was just by chance that I came across it whilst browsing numerous trailers on YouTube (We've all been there).

The movie is about a philosophy class, full of attractive young actors might I add, who's teacher challenges the twenty graduating seniors to choose which ten of them should take shelter in an underground bunker and reboot the human race in a hypothetical apocalypse.

What I love about this film is the transition between the students hypothetical planning within in the classroom and then the visual of what this hypothetical situation looks like. They end up taking 3 different attempts at the problem, each time taking a different perspective on the situation. I love watching movies like this which just seem so clever, debating between logic and morality.

The movie also has an incredible sound track which really helps add to the scene. I think this movie was advertised to me as a thriller which initially out me off as I don't often enjoy watching psychological tense films on my own and wasn't really in the mood for anything even remotely horror related. However I personally do not think I would call it a thriller and if any of you have the same feelings I did I can tell you that it's not scary and in my opinion there is really only one or two 'iffy' bits that i'm going to label unsettling. I personally was not fazed by any of it. I especially liked the little twist at the end of the film regarding Sophie Lowe and James D'Arcy's characters.

The film stars some fairly well known actors as well as much new young talent. For example Bonnie Wright(Ginnie Weasley, Harry Potter), Sophie Lowe (Alice from OUATIW), and their hot teacher James D'Arcy (Edwin Jarvis from Agent Carter).

I know this film won't be to everyone's taste but I really enjoyed it, so much so that I think ive watched maybe another 2 times since. I give this movie a 8.5/10. As with most things I review on this blog I definitely recommend.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer | REVIEW

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is a young adult fantasy book by Michelle Hodkin. The book definitely has a paranormal feel to it and is slightly darker than your average fantasy tween novel.

I fell in love with this story and once I finished volume 1 I bought the next two books in the series as fast as I could. I love the characters in this book and they really help suck you into the world of Mara Dyer. Cassandra Clare herself described the book as 'Haunting and dreamlike'.

Mara has had to move schools after being in a fatal accident that killed her best friend, her boyfriend, and her boyfriends sister, leaving her unharmed and with no recollection of the incident. Their deaths haunt her but aside from that slight detail Mara is a relatable character as far as struggling with school and not fitting in with the popular preppy crowd. Whilst at her new school Mara manages to make one friend and eventually finds a little more with the mysterious Noah Shaw. Noah is your typical fantasy fiction heart throb, fit with a British accent and sloppy unkempt look.

As the story progresses Mara begins to see her dead boyfriend amidst a number of other strange events, however as a reader you have to decide if you think what she is seeing is real or if, like her mother suspects, suffering from PTSD. Mara also believes she is seeing other people deaths before they happen, the reason behind this is one of many mysteries within the book. Mara also discovers that Noah is also not your average run of the mill teenage boy.

I rate this book an 8/10.

I highly recommend this book to those who are fans of the fantasy genre and love a bit of romance to be strongly woven into the mix, also to those who enjoyed the Shatter Me series.
